One of Terra’s long-standing traditions is a company-wide holiday party, and that tradition continued this year with a bang! Lunch was provided by Roli Roti Gourmet Rotisserie and Catering; they rolled in, set up, and started serving within just a few minutes. The crews enjoyed games of skill and chance before sitting down to eat, and we even had a few karaoke numbers to keep the day festive. As always, company president Cassidy delivered prepared remarks in Spanish and English; this year he stressed the importance of safety,…

On March 15, a team from Terra attended an event organized by the East Bay Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association. This was a day of volunteer service at the world-renowned University of California Botanical Garden at Berkeley. The project involved replacing decaying timber steps in the Garden’s Redwood Grove section, as well as working on paths to prevent washouts and clearing fallen branches after the recent windstorms. Lunch was provided. Donating labor to projects like this is a good way to give back…

We do our best to keep up with the latest horticultural information and landscaping trends, so a management team recently attended the Norcal Landscape and Nursery Show at the San Mateo Event Center. On the main floor, we visited booths with information on everything from new plant introductions to the latest earth-moving equipment and irrigation innovations. Foothill College, Suncrest Nurseries, Garton Tractors, San Marcos Growers, The Urban Farmer – so much to learn about! John Greenlee, author of The American Meadow Garden,…

Each year, our company throws a holiday party for all employees, including raffles, prizes, year-end announcements, and a festive meal. Of course music is always included, and this year, we had a live Mariachi band! Our new headquarters in San Leandro offered plenty of space for tables and chairs, a catering truck, and the aforementioned live entertainment (great acoustics!). Delicious meals were provided by Roli Roti. We are proud of the collaborative approach we take toward our business, and gatherings like this help build…

In 1972, the year President Nixon visited China and Don McLean’s American Pie topped the music charts, our company got its start. A young artist named Craig Lundin was studying at California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. His sculpture teacher, John Britton, had a small tree-care company and asked Craig if he would like to learn how to climb and prune trees. Craig said yes, and over the next year, they worked together part-time while following their own artistic paths. John taught Craig everything he knew about climbing trees …

On June 4, 2022, the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) led a volunteer event to assist the Oakland Zoo with the installation of their new Browse Garden. The Browse Garden will grow a variety of plants and provide a local food source for animals at the zoo.  Terra Landscape partnered with other CLCA members in donating materials and personnel to support the new installation. We donated $1,000 worth of plants and had four volunteer representatives actively involved throughout the day. Two of our top Irrigation…

Each spring, two important dates mark support for environmental protection. We celebrate these days because we take our commitment to the planet seriously.  Earth Day has been celebrated in April annually in the US since 1970 and eventually around the world. Last year, an estimated 1 billion people participated in Earth Day events. This year’s theme is Invest in Our Planet with an emphasis on guaranteeing a healthy future for the coming generations. For more information see earthday.org.  Arbor Day got its start a few years …
